WRITING FOR CHILDREN:

June always intended to study Massey University's 'Writing for Children'  Summer School course,

but time and work commitments got in the way.  As fate would have it, in 2015 an opportunity presented which seeded an idea for a children's book with music, and the rest is history.  In 2017 June's first children's book with music Tawhirimatea, A song for Matariki written and sung in Te Reo Māori and English, was published by Scholastic NZ.  Every year since then a new title has found its way onto New Zealand's bookshelves, the most recent being Kia Kaha, Together Standing Strong .

Released to coincide with the 2019 Christchurch mosque attacks, little did we know that this book would find it's place in the homes of young children all over New Zealand, included as part of the Ministry of Education's educational resources for home learning during COVID-19 lockdown.

WRITING POETRY:

Lyrics and poetry form quite a big part of June's writing life, her interest in both sparked during Primary School where she became fascinated with poetry, particularly the rhyming and singsong style of limerick.  Known to have a way with words, and once  described as a powerfully penned lyricist, June continues to explore poetry in song, and spoken word, and became a first-time published poet with the inclusion of her work Inside a 1960's Cadbury's Chocolate Box in the  2019 Fast Fibres Poetry 6 - from Northland collection.  More of her works will feature in 2020's Fast Fibres 7 collection.

CONTENT WRITER:

Writing creative content can be challenging.  June will happily work to a brief in creating content that meets the needs of her client and the situation.
