Producer - Matariki Starlight Jazz Concert
Within a 6 week time frame, and with zero budget, June successfully produced what was a most beautiful and heart-felt musical experience!
'I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all the wonderful musicians, technical support, sponsors in kind, donors, and helpers, for enabling me to bring this very special musical experience to light, and for believing in me and the 'Whānau Walk for Wellness Project.
As work on the Project gets underway, I'm looking ahead to staging another Matariki Starlight Jazz Concert fundraiser in 2019.

BACKGROUND TO MATARIKI STARLIGHT JAZZ 2018
‘Matariki Starlight Jazz Concert’ was presented as an independent part of Auckland’s Matariki Festival 2018 programme of events. Its purpose was to help raise funds towards supporting the development and organization of a ‘bigger picture’ cause – the Whānau Walk for Wellness – Footsteps supporting the ripple effects of mental wellness Project - a walk for our Nation designed to help raise funds to further support existing, or to create new support networks within Communities that enable the ‘Caretakers’ of the mentally unwell to reach out and connect, draw strength from, and support others who are walking a similar journey.
Matariki Starlight Jazz Concert blended both Pakeha and Māori artists together in an exciting programme of music sung in Te Reo Māori and English. Every artist featured in the concert donated their time for the cause. Each had their own experience related to mental unwellness to some degree.
Head-lining the Matariki Starlight Jazz concert was the sensational Whirimako Black. Other artists included June Hayes, Alanna Goldsmith, Makareta Umbers, Marie O'Flaherty, Julie Mason, Phil Broadhurst, Denis Hepi, Dixon Nacey, Kelly Kahukiwa, Olivier Holland, Kevin Field, Ron Samsom, Ben Fernandez, Neil Williamson, Aaron Codell, Ray Bishop
THANK YOU SO MUCH ALL YOU FABULOUS MUSICIANS FOR GIFTING YOUR TIME, ENERGY, AND CREATIVITY.
